The John von Neumann Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Computational Science offers an exceptional opportunity to conduct innovative research in computational mathematics and scientific computing on advanced computing architectures. Von Neumann Fellows apply their research findings to a broad range of science and engineering problems of national importance.

The Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Stewardship Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE NNSA SSGF) provides excellent financial benefits and professional development opportunities to students pursuing a Ph.D. in fields of study that solve complex science and engineering problems critical to stewardship science.

Computational science is interdisciplinary by nature, using algorithms, mathematics and computers to analyze and solve scientific and engineering problems. The DOE-CSGF’s unusual program of study helps nurture this crosscutting foundation.

Dotcom-Monitor would like to encourage and support female undergraduate students who are pursuing careers in computing by assisting them with the rising cost of higher education. Each year one applicant will be selected to receive the Dotcom-Monitor Women in Computing Scholarship of $1,000 to support their education and pursuit of a career in computing.

Graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in the laboratory’s research and development programs, initiate new areas of research, and establish a base for ongoing collaborations through NREL’s Research Participant Program (RPP).

Last deadline was September 2022. THE NVIDIA GRAD FELLOWSHIP is open and is now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 academic year. NVIDIA just opened the application window for their Annual Graduate Fellowship Program, which advances the frontiers of science by awarding grants and providing technical support to graduate students who are doing outstanding GPU-based research.

Last deadline for recommendation letters was OCTOBER 31, 2022. The DoD NDSEG Fellowship Program, established in 1989 by direction of Congress and sponsored by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, serves as a means of increasing the number of United States citizens trained in science and engineering disciplines of military importance. This program is designed to encourage Baccalaureate recipients to enter Graduate school and ultimately gain Doctorates which align to the DoD services Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs) in research and development.

Last deadline was 3/22/2021.Microsoft recognizes the value of diversity in computing. The Microsoft Research Dissertation Grant aims to increase the pipeline of diverse talent receiving advanced degrees in computing-related fields by providing a research funding opportunity for doctoral students who are underrepresented in the field of computing. This includes those who self-identify as a woman, African American, Black, Hispanic, Latinx, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and/or person with a disability.

Last deadline was April 30, 2022 ACM SIGHPC and Intel have partnered to create Computational and Data Science Fellowships, a 5-year program to increase the diversity of students pursuing graduate degrees in data science and computational science. Specifically targeted at women or students from racial/ethnic backgrounds that have not traditionally participated in the computing field, the program is open to students pursuing degrees at institutions anywhere in the world.

Will open in September 2023. U-M has an internal competition for this fellowship. Up to 4 students may be nominated by U-M (or more, if URM are included). The Google PhD Fellowship Program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional and innovative research in areas relevant to computer science and related fields. Fellowships support promising PhD candidates of all backgrounds who seek to influence the future of technology. GoogleÕs mission is to foster inclusive research communities and encourages people of diverse backgrounds to apply. We currently offer Fellowships in Africa, Australia and New Zealand, East Asia, Europe, India, the United States and Canada.

Applications will re-open in early 2023. Creating gender equality in the field of computer science by encouraging women to excel in computing and technology and become active leaders and role models in the field.

Last deadline was October 28, 2022. The Hertz Fellowship provides financial and lifelong professional support for the nationÕs most promising graduate students in science and technology. The fellowship includes up to five years of funding, valued at up to $250,000, and the freedom to pursue innovative projects wherever they may lead. In addition, fellows take part in ongoing mentoring, symposia, and workshops with our vibrant community of more than 1200 fellows, a set of peers who span disciplines, generations, and geography.

ACM SIGHPC has created the Computational and Data Science Fellowships, a continuation of the program started with Intel (see below) to increase the diversity of students pursuing graduate degrees in data science and computational science.
