Smartwatches are multi-functional devices that can be worn on the wrist. They can read your heartbeat, notify you of messages from your phone, and can even tell the time! Google’s “Wear OS” is a branch of the Android mobile operating system, and it encourages open app development.
This is the first of two workshops to introduce programming for a Wear OS watch. This will introduce some of the functions of a smartwatch, through the programming and design of a new watchface. Participants will learn how to design a custom watchface using Java and Android Studio, with a step-by-step example.
