Scientific Foundation Models
Organized by MICDE, April 2nd and 3rd, Ann Arbor, MI.
The MICDE 2024 Annual Symposium marks a significant moment in the evolution of scientific inquiry and exploration. This symposium will be focused on scientific foundation models (SciFM) that aim to have a similar transformative impact on science as Generative AI has had on natural language. SciFM are parameterized physical theories which are usually trained on broad-range of scientific data and capable of being applied to a range of downstream tasks, such as discovering patterns and generating scientific hypotheses, insights, and engineering designs.
This event is the first of its kind, dedicated exclusively to this exciting and nascent field. By congregating the world’s foremost experts in the field, the symposium aims to significantly broaden the horizons of scientific foundation models and Generative AI (including LLMs) for science.
