EVC/MICDE Award: Mobile Robotic Automation and Digital Twin Integration for Closed-Loop Self-Driving Battery Electrolyte Discovery

Overview of the proposed mobile-manipulator-augmented self-driving laboratory.

This project will integrate mobile robotic automation into the SALSA self-driving laboratory to support battery electrolyte discovery. The project will develop safe robotic manipulation policies for handling delicate glassware, a multi-physics digital twin that models robotic, fluid and thermochemical dynamics, and a cost-aware Bayesian experimental design framework that balances scientific information gain with robotic execution cost.
