Portrait of Damon Cheung

Background

I am a gravitational-wave astrophysicist and a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. My research focuses on developing machine learning techniques and conducting searches for continuous gravitational waves—a yet-to-be-observed class of signals emitted by rapidly spinning neutron stars with non-axisymmetric deformations. Their discovery would provide new insights into neutron star physics and mark the beginning of a new chapter in multi-messenger astronomy.
