Hugo Gonzalez Villasanti is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering, where he leads the People-centered Autonomy Laboratory (PAL). His research focuses on dynamical systems, control theory, and robotics applied to human-centered problems, including stability analysis of cyber-physical-social systems and equitable policy design for sociotechnical systems that support child development, mental health, and financial well-being. His group uses tools from dynamical systems, controllability analysis, and multimedia processing to develop evidence-guided data-based policies that improve social justice outcomes, working in collaboration with researchers in education, public health, and the social sciences.
